At Pecometer, we believe in doing things differently, not just on special occasions, but every day. This Mother’s Day, we want to recognise and appreciate the working parents on our team, as well as everyone who balances responsibilities inside and outside of work.
We recently reduced everyone’s hours without reducing anyone’s salary. This was a practical decision based on what we know makes work better. People do their best when they have time to rest, think, and take care of the things that matter to them. We made this change together, ensuring that everyone had a say, because that’s how we work, as a team.
For the parents at Pecometer, this change means more time with their families without compromising their careers. But this change isn’t just for parents, it’s for everyone. A workplace that values balance benefits us all.
As Nikol, one of our senior developers, puts it:
"Some say keeping a tiny human alive is tough, others say building and managing complex software is harder. As a mother and a senior full-stack developer, I’d say both require serious context-switching. One minute, I’m writing clean, scalable code and leading projects, the next, I’m negotiating with a toddler who thinks she runs the place. Both roles demand patience, endurance, and adaptability. At work, I build systems that scale, at home, I’m raising a tiny human who challenges every system I set. Either way, it’s about creating something that lasts."
This Mother’s Day, we celebrate all the parents on our team, and everyone who helps make Pecometer a place where work and life support each other.
